The Earth Act

The Earth Act

“I am a citizen of the United States.

I am a member of the living community of the earth.

I breathe earth’s air, drink earth’s water, and eat earth’s food.

I will act to lessen my harm to our earth and to pass our earth forward , better and more beautiful.”

A simple, profound, unifying statement that cuts across political, geographical, religious and ethical boundaries. With your help spreading it, it will attract enough citizens to convince Congress to pass a series of practical Earth Acts. Most of Congress agree with that statement, but they will need the backing of voters to out weigh lobbyists.

When the number of voters reaches a persuasive point, we will approach Congress to sponsor a first, passable act, The Earth House Act which states simply: “In five years all new houses must be built to use 100% renewable, non-polluting energy.” Since these houses are already being built, and since the buyers recoup their purchase price in energy savings and a higher resale value, the resistance to such an Act could be overcome.

With a successful first act, membership would continue to grow, momentum would swell, and successive acts would be easier to pass such as The Earth Auto Act, The Earth Materials Act, and so forth. The American dream of a home, a car, and “stuff,” could continue with minimal impact on earth. In fact, High Clean Tech could generate jobs and leadership in the world.

A website, The Earth Act.org was set up on Earth Day, April 21, 2007,  to allow those who agree with The Earth Act to join with their email address–membership is free. Please join. The power of the internet has been shown. We need the force of numbers to counterbalance the weight of corporate dollars.

Start now. Share this statement. Please contact your friends personally, ask them to pass it forword, and then let it loose just short of spam to any associations, groups, Facebook friends, you tubers, twitters, bloggers, green groups or even your old fashioned Christmas list. The Earth Statement cuts across categories, it favors no party, race, or religion, it reaches out to all who like clean air, pure water, and healthy food. For a CLEAN GREEN EARTH and a TRUE BLUE SKY, PASS IT FORWARD!

Let’s go! Growing numbers of Americans joined in this over-arching goal will  trump lobbyists. Just click The Earth Act.  Help us gather overwhelming numbers who love the earth and who, like the rising tide, will lift our congress to pass The Earth Acts.
